BlakeIsHere: The Extremely Dark Virus is a British action dramedy TV movie based on the television series BlakeIsHere: The Animated Series, and aired on May 12, 2022, on Sky One.

Plot

A virus made in a lab spreads around Carlsbergia, turning everyone there into Countryballs, it makes it's way to England, once it reaches Manchester, Blake must save it from destroying MediaCityUK.

Bad Qualities

  1. This movie has a lot of questionable decisions, like recasting or removing several characters, such as Ribbony, who was voiced by Dermot Murnaghan in series 1, the movie and The Final Battle TV movie, but was re-casted with Huw Edwards in this movie and series 2 of BIH: TAS, Blake going from Bisexual to Asexual, and most importantly, moving the show from Channel 4 to Sky One.
  2. Cheesey writing at times.
    • The story itself is unusual.
  3. The villain, Marcopoloia de Coroaltió, is very unlikeable, he killed Ian Smith and used him as the source of power for the machine, and he used the remains of Danielle of the machine as well!
    • His sidekick, Astriosi, is just as bad.
  4. Lily May and Maddie Cástano, despite being main characters, are reduced to minor characters.
    • Other minor characters appear in the background, but were fully removed from the show after the movie!
  5. False advertising: The Central European posters show Lily and Maddie, although they are minor characters in the film.
    • The North American poster says it is "The first BlakeIsHere movie!" although BlakeIsHere: The Movie came out a year earlier and released internationally!
  6. Some filler here and there, due to the story being about a virus created in a lab.

Good Qualities

  1. It has the tropes for BIH: TAS is known for.
    • Wondrous 2D animation for the time.
    • Glorious music by David Lowe.
    • Great voice acting, although some characters were re-casted.
    • Decent characters designs.
      • This movie is the debut of Blake and Lily's new design, which are an improvement from the old ones.
      • Marcopoloia and Astriosi have outstanding designs.
  2. Although unusual, the story is fascinating and is decently written, since the show is known for being odd at times.
  3. Some scenes and characters are tolerable, or good.
    • The ending is hilarious, Marcopoloia is hit by the gun and is turned into Polandball, and says "Can I go to space?" and Blake throws him into the atmosphere, and gets stuck in orbit.
    • The iconic Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms scene.
  4. Cameos from people like Michael Rosen, Huw Edwards, Jim1081, and the aforementioned Ian Smith.
  5. Cool looking Western European posters!

Trivia

  • This movie aired on Lucas Blake Ashton's 13th birthday.
  • This is the first BlakeIsHere-related media to get an American dub.
  • The villain Marcopoloia is named after the Marcopolo satellite of the Sky Group's predecessor, British Satellite Broadcasting.
  • The aforementioned Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms scene became an internet meme.
  • The movie was made in 2021 but was delayed due to finding an international Distributer.
