Summary

In a post-apocalyptic future, a scientist named Augustine tries to warn a returning spaceship not to return to Earth.

Bad Qualities

  1. First off, the film has absolutely no plot or direction.
  2. An abundance of filler scenes.
  3. Random inconveniences that come out of nowhere and are completely nonsensical.
  4. The film has a myriad of plot holes and leaves more questions than answers.
  5. The ending twist makes no sense: Turns out the little girl named Iris was not real and was just a hallucination, which leaves a lot of holes in, well, basically the entire plot.
  6. Very slow pacing.
  7. The film doesn't even seem to know what it wants to be, as it just drags on and constantly changes direction.
  8. The flashbacks are useless and provide little to no context on what anything in this film is even supposed to be.
  9. The characters really have almost no depth except for sort of just being there, without any real growth, or reason to grow in general.
  10. Scenes that are supposed to be emotional just fall flat.
  11. The film tries way too hard with its action scenes that they come off as cheesy rather than actually exciting.

Good Qualities

  1. Decent acting from George Clooney.
  2. Decent special effects.
  3. The poster looks beautiful.

Reception

The film received mixed reviews from critics, with a 51% score on Rotten Tomatoes out of 236 reviewers and a score of 58 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 42 reviewers.
