Bad Qualities

  1. Much like Michael Bay, his movies tend to focus more on special effects and action sequences than story, appealing to the lowest common denominator. In other words, his films are all style and no substance.
  2. His Resident Evil films have a very poor connection to the source material.
  3. The characters in his films are poorly written and bland, with almost no character development.
  4. His films are poorly edited.
    • Many action sequences are almost incomprehensible due to excessive fast cutting and jitter-cam.
    • He overuses slow motion and sequel-baiting.
  5. Clichéd, predictable and formulaic storylines.
  6. Most of his stories and plot points lack sense.
  7. Mediocre CGI effects in a number of his movies.

Good Qualities

  1. Unlike Michael Bay, he actually comes across as friendly, compassionate and kind-hearted in interviews and on-set, showing he's a nice person in real life.
  2. Some of his earlier works are pretty good, especially Mortal Kombat and Event Horizon.
  3. He directed the Doom 3 teaser trailer "Warnings".
  4. It's evident that he's very heartfelt about his movies.
  5. He's capable of handling criticism, unlike his wife and some other awful movie directors.

For 4 on his redeeming Qualities: ...that's quite ironic since emost of his video game movies don't look that way in terms of game connection

Technically he's the prototype Uwe Boll, since he started making video game movies before Boll did.

Although, Anderson is MILES better than Boll.
