Paul William Scott Anderson (born 4 March 1965) is an English film director, screenwriter and producer who regularly works on science-fiction and video game adaptations.
Much like Michael Bay, his movies tend to focus more on special effects and action sequences than story, appealing to the lowest common denominator. In other words, his films are all style and no substance.
His Resident Evil films have a very poor connection to the source material.
The characters in his films are poorly written and bland, with almost no character development.
His films are poorly edited.
Many action sequences are almost incomprehensible due to excessive fast cutting and jitter-cam.
He overuses slow motion and sequel-baiting.
Clichéd, predictable and formulaic storylines.
Most of his stories and plot points lack sense.
Mediocre CGI effects in a number of his movies.
Good Qualities
Unlike Michael Bay, he actually comes across as friendly, compassionate and kind-hearted in interviews and on-set, showing he's a nice person in real life.
Some of his earlier works are pretty good, especially Mortal Kombat and Event Horizon.
He directed the Doom 3 teaser trailer "Warnings".
It's evident that he's very heartfelt about his movies.
