Wrong! Don't you hate it when one of Hollywood's most beloved actors becomes a registered sex offender?
Nationality: American

Born: July 26, 1959
Occupation: Actor
Producer
Singer
Years active: 1981-present
Notable works: The Usual Suspects
American Beauty
Superman Returns

Kevin Spacey (born July 26, 1959) is an American actor, producer, and singer. Spacey began his career as a stage actor during the 1980s, obtaining supporting roles in film and television.

Why He Sucks Now

  1. Numerous men (including actor Anthony Rapp) and two women have accused him of sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment, child sexual abuse, and sexual misconduct since the rise of the #MeToo movement, though he has denied all of them.
  2. When actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making a sexual advance to him when he was 14 back in 1986, he responded on Twitter by coming out as gay when apologizing to Rapp. He said, "I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man". He was heavily criticized for deflecting Rapp's accusation and the unfortunate implications surrounding it, as he conflated being gay with alleged pedophilia, which already became an attack mechanism by anti-LGBT people, something that homosexual men tried to disprove. Not to mention he took advantage of long-term speculation of his sexuality he refused to talk about in the past.
  3. He uploaded a video in 2018 denying the sexual assault allegations. This backfired with several actors criticizing him and his video on Twitter.
  4. He would block anybody who brought up his controversies, showing he can't handle criticism.
  5. Since the sexual assault accusations, some of his best film roles can now come off as hypocritical: He played in A Time to Kill a lawyer involved in a trial about a man who killed his daughter's rapists and played in Pay It Forward a well-meaning teacher who defends his stepson from a pedophile.
  6. Because of his actions, this resulted in many consequences for Spacey's career. For example:
    • He was fired by Netflix and caused the whole fifth season of House of Cards to be rewritten to kill off his character, resulting in a bad season which ruined the program all because his actions, as his portrayal of Frank Underwood was pivotal for the show's success.
    • A Gore Vidal biopic starring Spacey, which was to be distributed by Netflix, was cancelled after he was fired from Netflix.
    • Spacey's scenes as industrialist J. Paul Getty in All the Money in the World were cut from the film and Christopher Plummer replaced him as Getty in reshoots.
  7. He collaborated with Bryan Singer, another sex offender, in both The Usual Suspects and Superman Returns.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Despite his wrongdoings, he was an amazing actor.
  2. He used to be an amazing person before his controversies.

Trivia

  • He spawned the iconic Internet meme of Lex Luthor saying "WRONG!" in Superman Returns.
