Boat Trip is a 2002 buddy comedy with Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Horatio Sanz. The film was written by William Bigelow and Mort Nathan (who would later work on Van Wilder 2). It was also Mort's directorial debut. It was released on October 4, 2002 in the United Kingdom and was released in the United States on March 21, 2003.
Plot
Longtime friends Jerry Robinson (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) and Nick Ragoni (Horatio Sanz) decide to go on a boat trip together to get over their troubles after both of their lives hit rock bottom. But, neither of them realize that the boat they're both on has a majority of homosexuals on board. When the two find out about it, both friends pretend to be homosexuals.

Why It Sucks
- The storyline is extremely weak.
- There are many offensive jokes in this film, especially ones directed towards LGBT people.
- The characters are unlikeable.
- The dialogue is pointless.
- Cameos that weren't necessary (eg. a cameo from the late Roger Moore).
- The stereotypes are highly offensive.
Redeeming Qualities
- While the film is awful, it does have some potential for being a good comedy.
- Although our main characters aren't really likable, they have pretty good chemistry with one another.
- Some funny moments.
- Good acting from Cuba Gooding, Jr., Horatio Sanz, Roselyn Sánchez, and Roger Moore.
Reception
The film currently holds a 7% on Rotten Tomatoes with an average of 2.5 out of 10 and a critic consensus that reads: "Boat Trip is a lame, juvenile farce that's heavy on stereotypes and desperate antics but short on brains and laughs." On Ebert & Roeper, Roger Ebert awarded the film with a 0.5 out of 4 stars and described the film as "so bad in so many different ways, not only does it offend gays, it offends everyone else."[1] Richard Roeper added in the review, "If the ship hit an iceberg, I would have been rooting for the iceberg." Both critics gave the film a "thumbs down".
Box Office
Boat Trip opened up at #10 on its opening weekend with a domestic gross of $3,815,075. The film closed with a domestic gross of $8,600,126. In overseas markets, it earned $6,420,167. Overall, the total gross was $15,020,293 against its $20 million budget.
Awards and nominations
Boat Trip was nominated for two Golden Raspberry Awards including Worst Actor for Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Worst Director for Mort Nathan, but lost all awards to Gigli.
