A Sound of Thunder is a 2005 science-fiction film directed by Peter Hyams and stars Edward Burns, Catherine McCormack, and Ben Kingsley. It is based on Ray Bradbury‘s short story of the same name.

The movie was met with extremely negative reviews and bombed at the box office, making only $11 million out of a $80 million budget.

Like another movie by Franchise Pictures, it has received a Game Boy Advance licensed game that is deemed to be superior to the actual movie itself.

In 2055 AD, the Time Safari corporation uses time travel technology to allow "time tourists" to hunt dinosaurs in the past. One such group of time tourists accidentally changes the future when one of them steps on a butterfly.

Why It Sucks

  1. Poor grasp of the source material; in the short story, stepping on the butterfly results with a fascist regime ruling over the US, while in the movie, it results with the world being infested with strange creatures.
  2. Extremely terrible and hastily-made CGI effects.
  3. Numerous scientific errors regarding evolution and biology in general.
  4. A story that makes absolutely no sense.
  5. Emotionless and one-dimensional acting.

The Agony Booth compared Edward Burns‘ acting to "Pierce Brosnan getting replaced by a wooden marionette that resembles Edward Burns".
